Biography

Martyna Pastuszka is a violinist, conductor, founder and artistic director of the {oh!} Orkiestra, with which she has performed regularly since 2012. Over the past two decades, she has collaborated with highly acclaimed early music ensembles as a guest artistic director, chamber musician, concertmaster, and soloist.

Under her artistic and musicological leadership, the {oh!} Orkiestra has revived numerous forgotten Baroque operas in both staged and concert versions, including Hasse’s Arminio, Sarri’s Didone abbandonata, Vinci’s Gismondo, re di Polonia and Alessandro nell’Indie, Caldara’s Venceslao, as well as Schuback’s oratorio Die Jünger zu Emaus. These productions formed part of Martyna Pastuszka’s residencies as Artistic Director of the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival and the Misteria Paschalia Festival, and were broadcast by television channels such as Arte and Mezzo, as well as by numerous radio stations across Europe and North America.

Since 2018, in cooperation with the Chopin Institute in Warsaw, the ensemble, under Martyna Pastuszka’s direction, has regularly recorded and performed large-scale European Romantic repertoire, with particular emphasis on works by Polish composers. Alongside the promotion of Polish music, projects commissioned by the Chopin Institute — recordings of the complete symphonies of W. A. Mozart and the complete piano concertos of Beethoven with Tomasz Ritter as soloist — will occupy an important place in Martyna Pastuszka’s artistic plans for the coming seasons.

Recordings made under her artistic direction have received numerous awards and distinctions, including Best Opera Production of the Year 2022 from the French magazine Forum Opéra, Le Clef d’Or from ResMusica, the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, and CD of the Month from Opernwelt, among others. In 2023, she received the Polish music community’s Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej award in the Personality of the Year category, as well as the Fryderyk award of the Polish recording industry in 2026.
