Pedro Beriso
Biography
Pedro Beriso is a conductor, pianist, continuist, and vocal coach whose artistry is anchored in a profound affinity for the operatic repertoire. A graduate summa cum laude of the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona, where he studied conducting, piano, and voice, he went on to refine his craft at the National Opera Studio in London with the support of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. His artistic profile was further shaped during a two-year residency at the International Opera Studio of Opernhaus Zürich.
From 2016 to 2024, he was a member of the music staff of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Antwerp and Ghent, serving as pianist and répétiteur. Alongside his operatic engagements, he has established himself as a sought-after teacher and vocal coach, holding appointments at the Dutch National Opera Studio in Amsterdam, and the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival.

With a repertoire spanning over fifty operatic titles, Pedro has collaborated with a distinguished roster of conductors, including Robin Ticciati, Fabio Luisi, Trevor Pinnock, Enrique Mazzola, Philippe Herreweghe, Gianluca Capuano, and Raphaël Pichon. He has brought his insight and musicality to masterclasses and coaching sessions led by luminaries such as Carlos Chausson, Neil Shicoff, Angelika Kirschlager, Ann Murray, Brigitte Fassbaender, Kiri Te Kanawa, and Cecilia Bartoli.
A regular presence at the Glyndebourne Festival since 2019, Pedro appears as both pianist and senior vocal coach. He made his Salzburg Festival debut in 2023 as principal vocal coach and continuo player in Le nozze di Figaro with the Wiener Philharmoniker under the baton of Raphaël Pichon. He was subsequently invited by Cecilia Bartoli to participate in the 2024 production of La clemenza di Tito, and will return to Salzburg in 2025 for Hotel Metamorphosis (assisting Gianluca Capuano) and Zaide (assisting Raphaël Pichon).
Pedro made his opera conducting debut in 2022 at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen with Così fan tutte and Mozart Concert Arias. In 2023, he co-created and conducted Ändere die Welt! for Dutch National Opera, later revived at the Semperoper Dresden for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. He is currently preparing for his conducting debut at Theater an der Wien’s Kammeroper with Rossini’s L’occasione fa il ladro in September 2025.
In addition to his work as a conductor, pianist, and vocal coach, Pedro Beriso has garnered acclaim for the imagination and refinement of his work as an arranger and editor. In 2025, he prepares the edition of the Vivaldi pasticcio Hotel Metamorphosis for the Salzburg Festival. His 2023 co-creation Ändere die Welt! at Dutch National Opera featured a full original arrangement conceived under his musical direction. In 2022, he contributed several distinctive arrangements to Amadé (Sony Classical), the solo album of soprano Julie Fuchs, also serving as musical advisor. His arranging work for the 2021 reimagining of L’elisir d’amore for Opera Zuid’s co-production with Dutch National Opera and Nederlandse Reisopera further highlights his sensitivity to both tradition and innovation.
