Sophie Junker will sing her first Poppea in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea on May 5 at the Philharmonie in Cologne and on May 7 at La Cité Bleue in Geneva, with Cappella Mediterranea under Leonardo García Alarcón.
Later in the month, she stars as Deborah in Handel’s Deborah with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir conducted by Ton Koopman. Performances are scheduled in Utrecht (May 22), Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris (May 23), Konzerthaus in Vienna (May 25), and Markgräfliches Opernhaus in Bayreuth (May 26).
