Today, ticket sales for Bayreuth Baroque 2026 started at Bayreuth Baroque.
As a new staged production, Handel’s rarely performed opera Floridante will be shown on 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 13 September 2026, directed by Max Emanuel Cencic. The stage design is by Helmut Stürmer, who passed away at the end of October 2025, and who was also responsible for the wonderful stage sets of the extraordinary festival productions Flavio (2023) and Pompeo Magno (2025). Corina Gramosteanu is responsible for the costumes, and for the first time, Christoph Pöschko will design the lighting.
The 2026 orchestra-in-residence, the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra – already a guest in Bayreuth in 2022 – will play under the direction of Markellos Chryssicos. A high-class cast awaits you, with Max Emanuel Cencic in the title role of Floridante, Eva Zalenga as Rossane, Sonja Runje in the role of Elmira, Bruno de Sá as Timante, Pavel Kudinov as Oronte, and Yannis François as Coralbo.
The stage completion will be carried out by Corina Gramosteanu, according to the wishes of Helmut Stürmer. Floridante is a co-production of the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival and the International Handel Festival Karlsruhe.
High-calibre concerts by Christophe Dumaux (5.9.2026), Julia Lezhneva (7.9.2026) and The Sopranos – Federico Fiorio, Maayan Licht, Dennis Orellana – (11.9.2026) at the Margravial Opera House, two delicious brunches (6 & 13 September 2026) and two exceptional dinners (5 & 11 September 2026) will frame the festive programme.
Bayreuth Baroque also hosts events at other spectacular venues in Bayreuth:
Andreas Scholl and Emőke Baráth will perform together with the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra under Markellos Chryssicos on 9 September in the gala Caesar meets Rodelinda, marking the first Bayreuth Baroque appearance at the newly reopened Friedrichsforum.
In the beautiful Castle Church, Maximiliano Danta (5.9.) and Petr Nekoranec (12.9.) will present solo recitals.
We look forward to seeing you at Bayreuth Baroque 2026!
