Sonja Runje in the Title Role of Cesare (Giulio Cesare) at the Cologne Opera

Parnassus Arts Productions is pleased to announce that our exclusive artist, Sonja Runje (alto), will perform the title role in Handel’s Giulio Cesare at the Cologne Opera four times between July 5 and July 12, 2025.

Under the direction of Vincent Boussard and the musical leadership of Ruben Dubrovsky, Sonja Runje will once again be seen in one of her signature roles as Cesare.

In the Cologne performance on July 5, 2025, our Parnassus Arts Productions artist Monika Jägerova (alto) will also be featured as Cornelia.

Sonja Runje will begin the 2025/26 season with concert performances of the operas Mitridate Eupatore by Scarlatti and Flavio by Handel.

She will appear as Antigono in Mitridate Eupatore on October 15, 2025, at Palau de la Música in Barcelona and on October 17 at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid.

As Teodata, Sonja Runje will perform in Flavio on October 28, 2025, at the Cologne Philharmonie and on November 8 at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

Concerts in Zagreb and at the Bach Festival in Lausanne will follow, as well as the title role in Vivaldi’s Griselda at the Wuppertal stages.

In 2026 and beyond, Sonja Runje will return to her celebrated roles in Amadigi (Amadigi), Giulio CesareTolomeoCornelia (all from Giulio Cesare), Bradamante (Orlando Furioso), Calipso (Polifemo), Farnace (Mitridate re di Ponto), and will also make her debut as Ottavia in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea.
