Daniel Behle is equally successful in concert, lied, and opera. His wide-ranging repertoire spans from baroque masterpieces to compositions of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Exciting projects await the tenor in the 2025/26 season: with the Staatskapelle Dresden under the direction of Daniele Gatti, he will appear as the soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah; at the Philharmonie de Paris, he will perform Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with the Orchestre National de France under Juraj Valčuha; and he will sing Anton Bruckner’s Te Deum with the Rotterdam Philharmonisch Orkest in both Rotterdam and Vienna. At the Stuttgart State Opera, he will appear in a new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, conducted by General Music Director Cornelius Meister. Further engagements will take him to the NDR Vokalensemble, the Munich Radio Orchestra, and the Venice Opera.

Highlights of recent seasons have included his song recital debut at the Musikverein in Vienna; concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Kirill Petrenko; at the Salzburg Festival with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and Adam Fischer; with the SWR Symphony Orchestra under Pablo Heras Casado; with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie and Jérémie Rhorer; and with the Basel Symphony Orchestra under Delyana Lazarova. He is a frequent guest at major European opera houses such as the Vienna State Opera, La Scala in Milan, Dutch National Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Stuttgart State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, and Semperoper Dresden, as well as at the Whitsun Festival in Salzburg, the Salzburg Festival, and the Bayreuth Festival.
Daniel Behle is also increasingly recognized as a composer: his compositions and arrangements for tenor and piano trio are widely acclaimed. His first operetta Hopfen und Malz was performed in 2023 at three opera houses in Germany. He is currently working on his second operetta, Der Schmetterling (The Butterfly).

Behle performs regularly with renowned orchestras such as the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Vienna Symphony, and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. He collaborates with conductors including Marc Albrecht, Bertrand de Billy, Ivor Bolton, Semyon Bychkov, Marek Janowski, Philippe Jordan, Vladimir Jurowski, Fabio Luisi, Andrew Manze, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Christian Thielemann, Lorenzo Viotti, and Franz Welser-Möst. His recital appearances have taken him to London’s Wigmore Hall, the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and the KKL Lucerne.

His discography includes numerous award-winning solo albums. Of particular note in recent years are his second Strauss album Un-Erhört (Prospero Classical) with Oliver Schnyder at the piano, Heimat with German Hornsound (Prospero), and the Beethoven album Gegenliebe with Jan Schultsz on the fortepiano (Pan Classics).

In 2020, he was named “Singer of the Year” with the OPUS KLASSIK Award for his aria album MoZart. In 2024, he received the Honorary Award of the German Record Critics’ Award (Deutsche Schallplattenkritik).

Daniel Behle was born in Hamburg and lives in Basel with his family.
