Flavio at the Latvian National Opera Riga

The Bayreuth Baroque new production Flavio, Re de’ Langobardi by G.F. Handel from 2023, directed by Max Emanuel Cencic, has been added again to the programme of the Latvijas Nacionālā Opera un Balets thanks to its great popularity. Three performances will take place on 17, 19, and 21 December 2025 in Riga.

The role of Flavio will be sung, as in Bayreuth and spring 2025, by Rémy Brès-Feuillet, and the role of Guido will be sung by the artistic director of the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival, Max Emanuel Cencic.

In Riga, the wonderful artistic team consists of

Corina Grămoșteanu as Costume Designer
Romain de Lagarde as Lighting Designer.

Flavio will be presented with the magnificent stage designs by Helmut Stürmer, who passed away in October 2025.

The livestream of the production Flavio can be viewed free of charge in the Bayreuth Baroque media library.

Bayreuth Baroque is pleased about the international revival of our new production Flavio (from the 2023 Festival). At the end of 2026, Flavio will be shown at a German state theatre.

Flavio was recently presented in concert at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. The enthusiastic Amsterdam audience gave 19 minutes of applause and standing ovations for Flavio!
