Daniel Pfluger
Biography
Daniel Pfluger grew up in Mannheim and works as a freelance director in the field of music, speech and dance at city and state theaters as well as in the independent scene. He studied at the Zurich University of the Arts and in 2010 received a Master of Arts.
In 2009, during his studies he won the renowned "Körber Studio Junge Regie" with the dance theater "Unvollkommen" after the metamorphoses of Ovid.
Recently he staged the concert theater Gilgamesh Must Die! for the Deutsche Oper Berlin, a multimedia adaptation of Stravinsky's The Soldier's Story for the Podium Esslingen Festival, the world premiere of the chamber version of Dvorak's Rusalka at the Stadttheater Biel, Teseo for the 38th International Handel Festival at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken, and a Faust project for the Theater an der Wien.
In 2017 he also staged for the circus Chnopf in Zurich and with Monteverdi's Orfeo in Belgrade for the first time outside the EU.
His works have been invited to festivals in Germany and abroad, to the Lucerne Festival, the Ruhrfestspiele, the Bensheimer Woche Young Actors and "Schöne Aussicht" in Stuttgart.
Since 2016 he also works as a visiting lecturer at the Bern University of the Arts. Daniel Pfluger holds a scholarship of the Akademie Musiktheater Heute.
