During the 2018/2019 season, Polish soprano Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk will perform one of her favorite roles - Gilda from Rigoletto by G. Verdi at opera houses in Novara, Sassari, Warsaw (TWON), Poznań and Wiesbaden. She will also debut in Tokyo as well as at the Tonhalle in Zurich, where she will star as Mademoiselle Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor by Mozart. She will also perform the male role of Primislao in Vinci’s Gismondo, Re di Polonia at the Theater an der Wien, during the All'Improviso festival in Gliwice and at the Tschaikovsky Hall in Moscow. She will also act as Morgana in Alcina during the Händel Festival in Karlsruhe.
Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk studied at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław under Professor Danuta Paziuk-Zipser and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. The award-winning singer has been recognized on numerous occasions, and was awarded with the First Prize at the Solomiya Krushelnytska International Competition of Opera Singers in Lviv, Special Prize at the International Vocal Competition in Toulouse, First Prize and the Special Prize at the St. Moniuszko International Vocal Competition in Warsaw, as well as the First Prize and Special Prize at the Karol Szymanowski International Vocal Competition in Łódź, amongst others. Furthermore, she also received the Special Prize at the Toti dal Monte International Vocal Competition in Treviso, and the Audience Prize at the International Vocal Competition in Malmö. She received the Jan Kiepura Award for the Best Female Singer, the Wrocław Music Award and the Award of the President of Wrocław.
She made her professional operatic debut at the Wrocław Opera as Gilda in Rigoletto by Verdi. She made her international début as Cunegonde in Candide by Berstein in theaters in Lucca, Ravenna, Livorno and Pisa. Her debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow as Queen of Shemakha in The Golden Cockerel by Rimsky-Korsakov was followed by a return invitation to sing Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute by Mozart. She also performed in Moscow Feu, Princesse, and Le Rossignol in L’enfant et les sortileges. At the Theater Bonn she debuted in the title role of Lakmé by Delibes.
In 2015 she made her debut at the National Opera in Warsaw as Gilda in Rigoletto. At the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe she performed during the International Händel Festival as Sigismondo in Arminio (2017) and as Morgana in Alcina (2018). During the season 2016/2017 she performed as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail by Mozart at the Opera de Toulon (Coast of Azure), Gilda and Amina (La Sonnambula by Bellini) at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste.
In the season 2017/2018, she appeared as Gilda at the National Opera in Warsaw, Violetta Valery in the opera La Traviata by Verdi at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and in the title role Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste. She also debuted at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in the title role of the opera by Rimsky-Korskov The Golden cockerel.
As the soloist of the Wrocław Opera, she appeared in an abundance of roles, including:
Violetta La Traviata, Lucia/Lucia di Lammermoor, Gilda/Rigoletto, Susanna/Le nozze di Figaro, Pamina/Die Zauberflӧte, Sophie/Der Rosenkavalier, Nanetta/Falstaff, Adina/L’elisir d’amore.
She has collaborated with conductors such as: Jordi Bernacer, Jesús López Cobos, Vassily Sinaisky, Peter Eötvös, John Axelrod, Stefan Blunier, George Petrou, Christopher Moulds, Jacek Kaspszyk, Łukasz Borowicz, Andriy Yurkevych.
She also performs in philharmonic orchestras and concert halls, including the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Poznań Philharmonic, the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Tonhalle in Zurich and the Tschaikovsky Hall in Moscow. In 2020, she will make her debut at the Opera in Zurich as Fiakermilli in Arabella by R.Strauss.
