Parnassus welcomes Riccardo Angelo Strano, countertenor
With pleasure we announce the worldwide representation of the Italian countertenor Riccardo Angelo Strano by us, effective immediately.
Riccardo Angelo Strano had his debut on the opera stage as Nerone in Handel's Agrippina at the Koninklijke Schouwburg (Den Haag, Netherlands) and at Pavarotti’s Theater (Modena, IT). Since then he has been singing numerous important roles, including, but not limited to, Apollo in Parnasso in Festa at the Händel Festspiele in Halle with the Lautten Comagney (DE, 2018); Nerone in L’Incoronazione di Poppea by C. Monteverdi at Theater Aachen (DE, 2017/2018); Stabat Mater von A. Vivaldi at the National Forum of Music in Wroclaw with the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra conducted by Jaroslaw Thiel (PL, 2016); Ruggiero in Alcina by G. F. Handel (2016) and Medoro in Orlando by G. F. Handel (IT, 2014/2015), both for the Luglio Musicale Trapanese; Schwan in Carmina Burana by C. Orff at Teatro Massimo, V. Bellini in Catania (IT, 2015); Nireno in Giulio Cesare in Egitto von G. F. Händel at Teatro Regio in Turin conducted by Alessandro de Marchi, (IT, 2014); Orfeo in Orfeo e Euridice by C. W. Gluck (2014), all of which were also sung at the Martina Francas Valle d’Itria Festival in Italy; the Ghost in Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell at Teatro dell Opera in Rome (IT, 2013).
Riccardo Angelo also dedicated himself to unknown works, like recently Hippolito in Die Zauberinsel by Purcell at Theater an der Wien (Vienna); Lo Scriba in the oratorio Il Terremoto by A. Draghi at the Royal Chapel of Versailles, the Chapel Corneille in Rouen and at the Sablè Baroque Festival (FR, 2018) with the Ensemble Le Pohème Harmonique under the baton of Vincent Dumèstre; Il Giovane / Voce Lontana in Superflumina by S. Sciarrino at Teatro Massimo in Palermo (IT, 2017); Mustafà / Vendetta in Il Girello by J. Melani with the Auser Musici Baroque Orchestra conducted by Carlo Ipata at Teatro Verdi in Pisa (IT, 2017); L’Innocente in L‘Arlesiana by F. Cilea at the Pergolesi-Spontini Festival at Teatro G. B. Pergolesi in Jesi (IT, 2013).
In 2016 and as a world premiere, Toccata Classics (London) published Riccardo's first solo-CD dedicated to Nicola Fago's Neapolitan Baroque Cantatas for solo voice, which in 2018 saw its second edition. In 2017, Dynamic (IT) published the opera Baccanali by A. Steffani, with him singing the title role Bacco/Tirsi (a live recording at the 42th Valle d’Itria Festival in 2016, as well as the opera L‘Arlesiana by F. Cilea in 2015, in which he sang the part of L’Innocente (again recorded live at the Pergolesi-Spontini Festival 2013 in the Jesi Opera House, IT). In 2018, Farelive (IT) released a new project named #C.I.P. (Counter Irish Project), with traditional Irish folk songs for solo voice and classic guitar.
In 2019, Riccardo can be heard as Scriba in the oratorio Il Terremoto by Antonio Draghi at the Sevilla Early Music Festival (ES, March 2019) accompanied by Le Pohème Harmonique conducted by Vincent Dumèstre, as Nireno in G. F. Handel's Giulio Cesare in Dresden's Semperoper (DE, April 2019), and he will record a third edition of Fago's Cantatas (January 2019).
