Parnassus Arts Productions is pleased to announce that the new production Giulio Cesare with 4 wonderful Parnassus artists will be shown at the Göttingen International Handel Festival from May 12th to 22nd, 2022. This new production will be directed by George Petrou who is also the musical director. Yuriy Mynenko will sing the title role, Sophie Junker will interpret the role of Cleopatra, and Nicholas Tamagna will be Tolomeo.

Between January 27 and February 20, 2022, Giulio Cesare has already been shown in Enschede, Eindhoven, Maastricht, Apeldoorn, Zwolle, Utrecht, Amsterdam and The Hague. George PETROU is staging his first opera outside of Greece. He is making his European debut as a director with Giulio Cesare. In August 2022 George PETROU will be once more working as director and conductor at the Drottningholm Festival on Vivaldi's opera Giustino. Other seasonal highlights in George Petrou's calendar include a new production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Cologne Opera, Xerxes in Moscow, Vivaldi's Orlando Furioso at the Dortmund Concert Hall, and Max Emanuel Cencic's gala program Senesino at the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival and in Moscow.

Yuriy Mynenko (Cesare), Sophie Junker (Cleopatra) and Nicholas Tamagna (Tolomeo) each celebrate their Giulio Cesare role debuts.

Yuriy MYNENKO, one of the most important countertenors of our time, made his debut as the outstanding Cesare yesterday night, a role that he will sing also at the Göttingen Festival and the Leipzig Opera later on. Yuriy will soon be making his debuts at the Zurich (Eliogabalo) and Leipzig (Giulio Cesare) opera houses, is a regular guest at the Moscow's Bolshoi Opera House and will interpret the title role in Vivaldi's Giustino at the Drottningholm Festival in summer 2022.

Sophie JUNKER has won an International Classical Music Award and the Trophée Forum-Opéra with her outstanding CD La Francesina. Sophie will sing the role of Cleopatra at the Reisopera and in Göttingen and I can already promise: Sophie's Cleopatra is spectacular! Other engagements lead Sophie to Palau de la Musica Barcelona, Teatro Real (both in April 2022), Festival Potsdam-Sansoucci, Brussels (both in June 2022), Moscow, Ambronnay, Dortmund (in September 2022) and in December 2022 she will do her house debut at the Zurich Opera.

Nicholas TAMAGNA has risen like a meteor in recent years and is now one of the world's most fascinating altos. With the evil Tolomeo, Nicholas adds another great role to his repertoire. Future roles in Nicholas' calendar include Timagene in an all-male cast of Vinci's Alessandro nell'Indie at the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival 2022, the role of Casimiro in Caldara's Il Venceslao at the Theater an der Wien, the title role in Vivaldi's Giustino at the Pinchgutoper in Sydney, the role of the Refugee in a NP of The Flight at the Oldenburg State Theater and just yesterday the role debut as Tolomeo.
