Rinnat Moriah

Biography

Exciting appearances await the young Soprano in the 2023-2024 season: at the Dortmund Opera she will give her debut as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), and will reprise the roles of Musetta and Eurydice (Orphée aux Enfers).
At the State theater in Wiesbaden she will sing and dance Valencienne (Die Lustige Witwe), and at the Beautiful Konzerthaus in Dortmund she will sing Britten’s Les Illuminations under the baton of Christian Zacharias. 

Recently, Ms. Moriah gave concerts at the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at the Theater an der Wien, and sang the lead role of Julia in Künneke’s Der Vetter aus Dingsda in Klagenfurt.
2022 saw her debut at the Bregenz Festival, as well as  at the SWR Festival in Schwetzingen, a return to the Philharmonie in Paris and Cologne and the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. She then gave a solo recital at Lugano Musica.

Ms. Moriah has sung at many international theaters, such as Teatro alla Scala, the Berlin State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theater an der Wien, Nationaltheater Mannheim and Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

Her broad repertoire as a lyric coloratura soprano includes roles such as Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Adina (L'elisir d'amore), The Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), Gopopo (Le Grand Macabre), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Gilda (Rigoletto), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor) and Violetta Valery (La Traviata).

Ms. Moriah has performed at the Rossini Opera Festival, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, the Lucerne Festival,  Donaueschingen Musiktage, the Mörbisch Operetta Festival, the Handel Festival in Halle and the Aix-en-Provence Festival.
She appears regularly with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, Ensemble Modern, Rundfunk-Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Slovenian Philharmonic orchestra, SWR, Scharoun Ensemble and the Ensemble Intercontemporain.

The soprano has sung concerts at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Philharmonie in Berlin and in Paris, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and at the BBC Proms, and has appeared with the Staatskapelle Berlin, Essen Philharmonic, RSB, Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, New World Symphony, and with Lucerne Festival Strings.

Rinnat Moriah is also at home in baroque repertoire. Among others, she sang the German premiere of Porpora’s Polifemo, Traetta’s Ifigenia in Tauride, the role of Didone in Vinci’s Didone Abbandonata, the role of Eurilla in Handel’s Il Pastor Fido, as well as the two coloratura parts in Jommelli’s Fetonte. She also recorded the female lead in Boxberg’s opera Sardanapalus (1698) for Pan Classics.

With Berg’s Lulu Suite under Maestro Daniel Barenboim, Ms. Moriah showed her mastery of the modern repertoire. She has sung numerous works by contemporary composers such as Elliott Carter, Sofia Gubaidulina, Harrison Birtwistle, Luciano Berio, Salvatore Sciarrino, Beat Furrer, Philippe Manouri, Johannes Kalitzke, Wolfgang Rihm, Vito Zuraj and Jacob Druckman as well as recorded the coloratura soprano part in Dominic Argento's Postcard from Morocco. Several works were composed for her, including Georg Katzer’s Das Kleine Latinum and Nadir Vassena’s Acque Perse.

Most recently Moriah created the role of Cassandra in the world premiere of Salvatore Sciarrino’s opera Il canto s‘attrista, perché? . 

Rinnat Moriah works regularly with well-known conductors such as Matthias Pintscher, Sylvain Camberling, Bas Wiegers, Lahav Shani, Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla, Donald Runnicles, Kirill Petrenko, Daniel Barenboim, Francois-Xavier Roth, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Antonello Manacorda, Michael Tilson Thomas, Ingo Metzmacher, Johannes Kalitzke, Paolo Carigniani, Roland Böer, and Dan Ettinger.
