Lada Kyssy

Biography

During the 2020/21 season, Lada Kyssy sings the title roles in Adriana Lecouvreur and Tosca (both at the Staatstheater Oldenburg). Her role debuts as Desdemona and at the Teatro Petruzelli in Bari had to be postponed to 2022 due to the corona crisis.

Lada Kyssy is native of Kazakhstan. She has a beautiful, bright, flexible and strong soprano spinto voice and excellent vocal technique. Lada received her education in Almaty, Kazakhstan, at the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy.

After winning several national and international singing competitions in Kazakhstan (National Competition of Opera Singers named after K. Baiseitova, Romansiada International Competition) Lada Kyssy embarked upon a career at the Kazakh State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. She sang the roles of Violetta, Liu, Micaela, Margherita of Faust, Marfa and others with great success in this theatre.

Since 2011, Lada has been working with such vocal masters and teachers as Mirella Freni, Mietta Sighele, Michela Sburlati, maestro collaborator Carlo Morganti, Emanuele Lippi, as well as Lorenzo Bavaj und Giulio Zappa in Italy and sang the parts of Adina, Musetta and Mergherita. She was the winner of several international competitions, including the Riccardo Zandonai Competition (Italy, 2nd prize) and the special prize of the Maria Kraja Competition (Albania, 3rd prize).

Lada Kyssy started her international career in Cagliari (Italy) with the role of Contessa in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro under the baton of Hubert Soudant. She successfully performed the role of Violetta in a new production of La Traviata by Lorenzo Moncloa in Medellin.

In 2015, Lada Kyssy began cooperation with the Tirol Festival in Erl, where she successfully performed the roles of Violetta, Mimi, Mathilde, Abigaille under the direction of Gustav Kuhn (stage director and band-master) and Tito Ceccherini. Her roles as Violetta and Mimi were received with enthusiastic reviews. Besides, Lada performed the soprano parts in Bach’s Matthew Passion, Verdi’s Requiem and the Christmas Oratorio.

In 2018, Lada changed from lyric soprano to soprano spinto and made her debut as Tosca at the Gars Festival for which she received many honorable reviews. In 2019 she sang Leonora in Il Trovatore at the Open Air at Ehrenbreitstein Castle as part of the Koblenz Theater Summer Festival and made her debut as Amelia in a new production of Un Ballo in Maschera at the Staatstheater Oldenburg. The artist also sings the roles of Mimi, the soprano part in the Messa da Requiem and the role of Maria Sforza in the world premiere of Maximilian at the Tirol Festival in Erl. In 2020 Lada Kyssy added another role debut as Rusalka at the Staatstheater Oldenburg. Engagements as Elisabetta in Don Carlos at the Heidenheim Opera Festival, Nedda in Pagliacci and the title role in Rusalka – both at the Staatstheater Oldenburg -, and Desdemona in Verdi's Otello at the Teatro Petruzelli in Bari are planned for the 2021/22 season.

Lada Kyssy works regularly with well-known conductors such as Marcus Bosch, Michael Güttler, Paolo Carignani, and Gustav Kuhn.
