Singer and composer Daniel Behle was honoured as "Singer of the Year" in 2020 for his "MoZart" recording with OPUS-Klassik. He is equally successful in Concert, Lied and Opera and made his highly praised and acclaimed debut as Lohengrin in early 2020. His repertoire ranges from Baroque masterpieces to Classical and Romantic repertoire to 20th and 21st century compositions.
His 2022/23 season holds a number of highlights, including Lied von der Erde concerts at the KKL-Lucerne, Mendelsohn's Elijah with the Berlin Philharmonic; his home tour with the German Hornsound and concerts at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, Liedhalle Stuttgart and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Opera engagements take him to the Semperoper Dresden (Das Rheingold, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), the Salzburg Festival (Il re Pastore), the Dortmund Opera (Lohengrin), the Bavarian State Opera (Giuditta and Die schweigsame Frau), the Zurich Opera (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and the Amsterdam Opera (Königskinder).
In the 2021/22 season Daniel sang, among others, a gala concert at the Elbphilharmonie, Britten's War Requiem and gave his Lieder Recital debut at the Musikverein Vienna, followed by a concert in the series "Große Stimmen" at the Elbphilharmonie. Opera engagements have taken him to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Die Zauberflöte), the Bavarian State Opera (Giuditta and Die schweigsame Frau) and the Vienna State Opera (Die Entführung aus dem Serail).
Daniel Behle regularly performs with orchestras such as the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Orchestra dell' Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, working with conductors such as Stefan Asbury, Bertrand de Billy, Semyon Bychkov, Christoph Eschenbach, James Gaffigan, Hartmut Haenchen, Thomas Hengelbrock, Pablo Heras-Casado, Marek Janowski, Philippe Jordan, Fabio Luisi, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jérémie Rhorer, Andreas Spering, Christian Thielemann and Franz Welser-Möst.
Important opera engagements in recent years have taken him to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni), the Staatstheater Stuttgart (Freischütz, Lohengrin), Opernhaus Zürich (Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Arabella), the Bayerische Staatsoper München (Arabella) and to the Bayreuth Festival (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Tannhäuser).
Behle is also increasingly making a name for himself as a composer: After the arrangements for tenor and piano trio "WinterreiseN" (Sony Classical), "Mein Hamburg" (Berlin Classics) and "Meine schönsten Weihnachtslieder" (Sony Classical), he has now completed his first operetta Hopfen und Malz, whose premiere is scheduled for 2022/23. Hopfen und Malz will already be performed at 3 opera houses in Annaberg-Buchholz, Neubrandenburg a.d. Havel and Neustrelitz from January to May 2023.
His steadily growing discography includes several award-winning recordings. Among others, "Die Schöne Müllerin" and Strauss Lieder (both Capriccio), Gluck "Arias" (Decca), Schubert "Arias" and "MoZart" (dhm) received special attention. His second Strauss album "Un-Erhört" (Prospero Classical) with Oliver Schnyder on piano was awarded the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
