Quentin Desgeorges

“ … a full voice, penetrating and full of promise …” []

The young lyric tenor Quentin Desgeorges already has a wide-ranging operatic profile, including Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo (La traviata, Théâtre de Sorbiers), Lysander (Britten’s A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Dominique Pitoiset, Théâtre de l'ENSATT, Lyon), Paris (Offenbach's La Belle Hélène, Théâtre de Saint Georges-de-Reneins), First Armed Man (Die Zauberflöte, Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, Vienna), and roles in Ravel's L’enfant et les sortilèges, Hindemith’s Hin und Zurück and Isabelle Aboulker’s La Lacune (directed by Bernard Rozet and Jean-Philippe Amy, Amphithéâtre de l’Opéra de Lyon). Quentin’s other stage performances included his role-début as Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (MdW Theater, Vienna).

On the concert platform, his repertoire encompasses Bach cantatas, major Romantic works (Saint-Saëns’ Requiem, Dvořák's Stabat Mater, and Puccini’s Messa di Gloria), and modern masterpieces such as Stravinsky’s Les Noces and Gilbert Amy's Missa Cum Jubilo (Auditorium de Lyon under the baton of François-Xavier Roth). He also sang recitals in Kiev, in the Philharmonic Hall in Kharkiv, and at the Coliseum of El Jem, Tunisia.

During the 2017/18 season he made his début at the Theater an der Wien as the Amalekite in Handel’s Saul, directed by Claus Guth and conducted by Laurence Cummings. He returns at the Theater an der Wien the following season to sing Hoffmann in Offenbach's Les Contes d’Hoffmann presented at Kammeroper Wien. The 2018/19 season also marked his debut at the Opéra de Lyon with the role of Gonzalve in Ravel's L'heure espagnole, conducted by Jonathan Stockhammer and staged by James Bonas.

Last season, Quentin sang the title-role in Gounod’s Faust and Leonhard Mälzel in the world premiere of Tscho Theissing’s Genia at Kammeroper Wien, and the 3. Jude in Strauss’ Salome at Theater an der Wien directed by Nikolaus Habjan and conducted by Leo Hussain. He joined the New Year’s Eve concert as a soloist at the Warsaw Philharmonic for an Offenbach program with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir under Joseph R. Olefirowicz.

During the season 2020/21, Quentin sings again Gonzalve in the production of L’heure espagnole at the Opéra National de Lyon, this time, under the baton of Vincent Renaud. He also makes his début at the Opéra Comique in Paris as part of Chantons, faisons tapage, an opera gala broadcast on French national TV, staged by Thomas Jolly and under the baton of Laurent Campellone.
