György Hanczar
Biography
The young tenor was born in Békéscsaba, Hungary in 1988. Before joining the world of opera, he worked as a musical and operetta singer. He won the prestigious Hungarian József Simándy Memorial Competition in 2016. His first main opera role was Tamino of Mozart’s Magic Flute, directed by Róbert Alföldi in 2015, which premiered in the National Theatre of Szeged then was played in Plsen, Czech Republic. In the same year, he played Nemorino of Donizetti’s Love Potion. His next role in the summer of 2016 was Conte de Almaviva in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, played both in the Summer Festival of Szombathely and Tokaj. In 2016, he played Alföldi’s Tamino in London too, and Prince Don Ramiro in Budapest. His next role in the National Theatre of Szeged was Otto of Erkel’s Bánk Bán, then Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in the Theater of Heidelberg. In 2017 his first role in the National Theatre of Szeged was Ernesto of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. In the same year, he played the title role of Rossini’s Le Comte Ory. He played the role of Segeste in Porpora’s Germanico in Germania in Vienna and the Opera Festival of Krakow, and this opera will be played at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall of Moscow in 2018.
His future projects: the title role of Rossini’s Le Comte Ory in the National Theatre of Brno, concerts at the George Enescu International Festival in Bucharest, Conte Almaviva in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville in the Operetta Theatre of Budapest.
